Relational Strategy Sessions

Let’s create a strategy for change in the relationships where your connections matter most.

Core Values

You’ve got them. They’ve guided you in most of your major life decisions but you might not know their names.

Relational Movement

Relationships between people move in a predictable cycle. When you learn the cycle, you can anticipate the bumps along the way.

Strategies for Change

Knowing is half the battle when it comes to relationships.  Gain the skills to maintain the connections that matter most.

Ongoing Support

When change happens the first time, practice will help maintain your progress. I’ll support you along the way!

What Is Relational Change?

Relational change is the ability to observe an interaction – within yourself or between you and another person/people – and gain the skills to identify what’s happening. When you identify what’s happening, you’ll be able to decide if it is creating connection or disconnection. Once you’ve named the connection or disconnection, you can do the work to enhance the connection or repair the disconnection.

Who Is Relational Change For?

Easy answer: everyone.  We are all involved in relationships, whether it’s with ourselves or with other people. If we feel like a relationship isn’t mutual or fostering our growth, then we owe it to ourselves to explore and find the truth so that we can make a healthy decision for our future.

 What is The Process Like?

This process is interactive and relationship-based. We begin by focusing on what it means to live a full, rich and meaningful life. Then we start creating shared language. This will make sure we have a solid foundation and are able to understand each other through the process. Our shared language will help us explore and engage the way relational movement is showing up in your life. We will create a strategy for change and implement it.

I will support you every step of the way.

1. Explore the possibility of a rich, full, meaningful life.

Let’s get on the same page so we can get started. Let’s discuss what values are and what it means to have values and use them to understand our interactions.

2. Create shared language.

Each of the programs I offer will give you shared language to move from the beginning to the end of the content.

3. Explore relational movement.

Relational movement is a definitive process. It has a beginning, middle, and end. Each stage is a transition point & a place for change. Each stage has a name and characteristics.

4. Create a change strategy.

Once we know which relational stage is most important to you, we can discuss and implement a change strategy for your benefit.

5. Implement strategy with ongoing support.

Let’s discuss what to do. Let’s do it and then let’s evaluate it to see what works so that we can do it again and create lasting change!

Available 2-week Courses

Core Values

This 2-week course introduces you to a process that explores and identifies your core values.

Your core values guide your everyday behaviors. They are the demonstration of what you think in your head, feel with your heart and make moves toward or away with your feet. By the end of the 2-week course, you will finish with a clarity about yourself. You will be able to fully articulate  your commitment to live in congruence with your core identity.

Relational Connection

This 2-week course is a check-in that defines what connection is and what it looks like in action.

When connection is present, it fosters growth. There are 5 major qualities of connection, called “the 5 Good Things.” They are zest, clarity, empowerment, sense of worth and desire for more relationship.

In this course you’ll learn to identify, explore & honor connection in your life.

Relational Disconnection

In this 2-week course, we explore the qualities of disconnection in relationship.

In order to truly understand, create, repair, and maintain connection, we must engage the question:  what happens when connection
goes wrong?

By identifying the 5 concepts of disconnection, you’ll be able to better see and understand the function (yes, function) of disconnection in your relationships.

Relational Reconnection

In this 2-week course, we engage the work of relational repair after disconnection.

Disconnection is not the end! It is the beginning of a lifelong skillset.

This is the work of getting back to “the 5 Good Things” using creative work and engagement concepts.

In this course you will learn five specific concepts of creative work that move towards mutual empathy.

Now that we understand the function of disconnection, we learn the steps to put pieces back together when (not if) they fall apart.

About Me

Hi!

I’m Dr. LaShawn C. Williams, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a Relational Change Strategist.

What that means is I help people identify the relationships in their lives that matter most and create a values-based strategy for change.

As an Army kid who changed schools every year from 2nd to 10th grade (twice in 9th!) I know how hard it can be to create and maintain relationships.  In each school where I was “the new kid,” I learned to listen for what was important to others. This helped me to be a friend when the opportunities presented themselves.

It wasn’t always easy. As a matter of fact, it was really hard! I was bullied many times until I got to high school where I was surrounded by peers and teachers who saw and appreciated greatness in me because they saw themselves as great, too! It changed my life.

My decision to become a social worker was rooted in the importance I placed on making and maintaining relationships.
